The ServiceGuru’s Academy is a hybrid of training opportunities. Despite the fact that we encourage classroom and contact learning we recognise the need to make training more accessible to people who prefer to learn at their own pace via e-Learning platforms. We offer a host of courses covering an array of subjects and departments, we offer non-accredited courses, in addition to SETA and CATHSSETA accredited courses.

At our Academy we offer different modes of delivery for our training. Some delivery modes are more suitable to certain industries, and different employees learn better when they participate in different training environments.

We are proud to be able to offer three delivery modes, namely: contact/classroom learning, eLearning and VILT (Virtual Instructor-Led Training). Hear is some more information on each of these and how it can work for your employees:

Service Training through Contact Learning

Contact learning means that your teams would be physically attending a class at a particular location. This includes a physical interaction with trainers, and networking with colleagues and other learners At ServiceGuru’s we offer adaptable and customisable contact learning courses suited to each clients’ specific needs.

Contact learning has several advantages, these include:

  • The ability to concentrate better on your learning as there are less distractions than at home.
  • It allows you to gain greater understanding through stories and real-world examples from the trainers and learners.
  • Contact learning presents you with the opportunity to connect, problem-solve and network with your fellow students.

Service Training through e-Learning

e-Learning platforms can be defined as “a learning system based on formalised teaching but with the help of electronic resources.” Or alternatively, as “a network enabled transfer of skills and knowledge, where the delivery of education is made to a large number of recipients at the same or different times.”

e-Learning platforms are becoming increasingly popular as it is a more cost-effective approach and it also provides an opportunity to work and study simultaneously, at each learner’s own pace.

There are several advantages to e-Learning, these include:

  • eLearning courses can be taken at any time.
  • eLearning ensures that you are in synchronisation with modern learners and that you receive updated content.
  • eLearning platforms enable the trainer to communicate their message in a consistent way for everyone, ensuring that all learners receive the same level of training.
  • eLearning platforms allow for the delivery of cost-effective courses online using technology, as compared to traditional contact learning. This price reduction is because learning through this mode happens quickly and easily. A lot of training time is reduced with respect to lecturers, travel, course materials, catering. etc.

Service Training through VILT (Virtual Instructor-Led Training)

Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT) refers to training that is delivered in a virtual environment, or when instructors and learners are in separate locations. Virtual instruction environments are designed to simulate the traditional classroom or learning experience by delivering courses online.

In VILT, training is conducted by a trainer using an online tool, which allows for two-way communication between the trainer and the learner. Our online courses delivered through VITL allow us to share information through video, documents, and written notes with the learners in real-time.

There are several advantages to VILT, these include:

  • A large benefit to VILT is the increased interactivity as VILT allows learners to ask questions, express their views, participate in discussions, and get trained together regardless of where they are situated.
  • The VILT learning environment is rich. The traditional whiteboard and PowerPoint interfaces are complemented by several multimedia tools, chat boxes, breakout rooms and instant access to support documents. Learners all have different preferred learning methods and the VILT environment addresses each learners’ learning preferences in an efficient way.
  • VILT allows you to train any learner, anywhere. A study conducted by Nielsen indicated that 44% of web videos are viewed while at work. Therefore, utilising video learning as a tool to keep employees engaged and motivated makes more sense than text-based communication as the training material can be consumed from anywhere and employees can attend from their desks or at home.

In conclusion, it is evident that by offering different methods of service training enables us to cater to the needs of any business regardless of its industry or location.
